Lectors

Lectors are ministers who are involved in the Liturgy of the Word at Mass and other liturgical celebrations in the church. The Word of God is alive and active in the world. As a Lector, you will not just read it, you will proclaim it to the people in the assembly. You will share your faith with your fellow parishioners, by performing an important service in the celebration of the Mass. You will help prepare hearts to receive the Holy Eucharist. You will be able to take part in a training session to help you get comfortable and confident to proclaim the Word. You will also receive a copy of the Workbook for Lectors, with the readings for Sunday Mass and other Solemnities through the year. The Workbook gives pronunciations and other information that help you proclaim the readings with confidence and clarity.

Once you have received training, you will be added to the rotation schedule, at the Mass or Masses convenient to you. All lectors are required to read at least once every 3 months at a Mass different from their regular Mass. The ministry is open to both men and women and young adults attending High School. The pastor offers a workshop in the parish once in every two years.

Please contact Fr. Yaw at 416-239-1259 if you are interested in joining this ministry or fill in this Ministry Form and return it to the Parish Office.
