  • James C. Cardinal McGuigan blesses church

1957

  • Basilian order opens Michael Power High School for boys

1959-1960

  • Our Lady of Peace School enrolment exceeds 750

1960

  • St. Elizabeth’s School opens

1963

  • Paul Giroux is first “native son” to be ordained

1965

  • Classrooms increased at Our Lady of Peace School

1969

  • Kindergarten and gymnasium added to our Lady of Peace School

1973

  • St. Joseph’s/Michael Power* high schools become co-educational
  • Gymnasium and library erected at St. Elizabeth’s School

1976

  • 25th anniversary of parish
  • Father Percy Johnson elevated to Monsignor
  • New organ installed

1983

  • Founding pastor, Percy Johnson dies

1984

  • Father Evain Marchand becomes pastor
  • French immersion program launched at Our Lady of Peace School

1992

  • Father George Galea appointed pastor

1994

  • High schools move to new location

1995

  • Climate control system for heating and cooling church inaugurated

2001

  • Parish founders recognized at New Year’s Day mass
  • New doors, with stained glass inserts, created for 50th anniversary
  • 8 classrooms and library opened at Our Lady of Peace School

2015

  • Blessing of Atrium and Elevator November 29, 2015

2016

  • Father George Galea retires as pastor of Our Lady of Peace
  • Father Yaw Acheampong appointed new pastor of Our Lady of Peace
